YEREVAN. – The vice-chancellor of French University of Armenia argued with a student and beat him.

Speaking to Sokrat Mkhitaryan, a graduate student, University vice-chancellor Arayik Navoyan raised voice, turned him out of the office and then started punching him, reliable sources informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Eyewitnesses say the incident was recorded by university’s cameras.

Talking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent Navoyan dismissed rumors adding it is a part of campaign recently launched against the university. However, vice-chancellor failed to name those who want to damage university’s reputation.

Reports about the incident were spread by Armenian media outlets. Press also reported that Arayik Navoyan lowered grading requirements at the exams providing an opportunity for his sister who used to show poor results to graduate from the university. This information was also refuted by Navoyan.
