Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan met with PACE co-rapporteur on Armenia John Prescott during his official visit to Strasburg.

The sides discussed the issues of democratic reforms, freedom of speech and strengthening of rule of law. John Prescott emphasized that Armenia marked a breakthrough in terms of human rights defense and democracy, which is the outcome of efforts exerted by Armenian authorities, Presidential press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Armenian president also met Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg. The commissioner highly appraised cooperation of European institutions with Armenia.
