YEREVAN. - Japanese Mazda giant will test drive its new CX7 crossover in Armenia. The initiative of testing the new model on Armenian roads belongs to Mazda Motor Rus, with the assistance of Armenian representative of Mazda Top Motors Company. The testing period will last for one month.

The crossover will be tested by Russian journalists writing about car industry, who actually get their vehicles right after landing in Zvartnots airport in Yerevan. The testing route stretched from the airport to a hotel along river Debed. The chosen road was highly appropriate to help unearth the capacities of the vehicle, principally designed for urban driving, as there is a “medieval-quality” road inside Alaverdi tunnel.

Despite the unfamiliar road and unexpected surprises of Armenian traffic, Russian experts were pretty satisfied with the car.

“The car did quite good in face of first-day testing challenges. I’m not dissatisfied. It reaches 100 km/h in 10.5 sec, which is impressive regarding its weight of 1.8 tons. It also displayed easy conducting characteristics and was perfect in overtaking,' chief editor of 110.km autonews internet portal Andrey Ivanov told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

According to Top Motors vice president Vladimir Hovsepyan, the company will work for turning test drives in Armenia annual events.

'Moreover, at present we are having preliminary discussions about holding a similar event in Russia next year. We would like to see Armenian journalists getting involved with it,' said Hovsepyan.
