YEREVAN. – Armenia and U.S. continue to deepen the cooperation in struggling against trafficking, drug illegal turnover and money laundering.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Bruce Donahue and Armenia’s Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan on Wednesday signed the amendment to the Agreement on cooperation in drug control and law enforcement spheres concluded between Armenian and U.S. governments. According to the amendment, U.S. government will additionally grant $2.3 million to improve the legal system of Armenia.

The investment will serve for the interests of Armenian people and continue to support the Armenian government in effectively struggling for human trafficking, drug illegal turnover, and money laundering, U.S. Embassy press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. The implemented projects will contribute to the improvements of Armenian legal system as well.

U.S. government has granted over $16 million to Armenia since the agreement was signed in 2001.
