ARTIK. – The world’s “seven billionth resident” was born at the maternal hospital of Armenia’s Artik city. The baby boy’s parents, who are from Pemzashen village, decided to name him Vahram Voskanyan. Little Vahram’s father works in Russia, but, having heard the good news, he decided to return in two days.

The seven billionth child was born two weeks early, on Monday at 00:20 a.m., and he is in good health.

Representatives from UN Armenia Office visited the maternal hospital and donated medical equipment.

Representatives of Artik’s mayor also visited the hospital and presented gifts to the baby’s happy mother.

In addition, Mayor of Artik announced he would delightfully become the child’s godfather.

UN Armenia Office staff members informed that assistance will be provided to ease the mother’s burden.

UN will ultimately decide as to which of the world’s seven billionth births would receive the title of “Seven Billionth Resident.”
