PARIS. – Armenia’s men’s and women’s national teams could not receive any medals in combined totals at the 2011 World Weightlifting Championships, which wrapped up in Paris.  

Hripsime Khurshudyan (+75kg Women) received an elbow injury and had to retire, whereas Ruben Aleksanyan (+105kg Men) could not clean and jerk 240 kilograms in all his three attempts.

Armenia’s women’s team currently has two qualifications for the Olympic Games and the men, three preliminary qualifications. Results in the European championship, which will be held in Turkey next April, will determine the final tally of Armenia’s Olympic qualification.
