YEREVAN. – As of January 2012, businessmen can participate in state purchases via online, Armenia’s Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan stated during a press conference on Monday.

As per the Minister, the state purchases enable to eradicate corruption and minimize officials’ intervention in the purchases.

According to Gabrielyan, red-tape would also reduce considerably, but all business offers will have to be registered at the Finance Ministry’s Purchase Assistance Center.

To note, the Government of Armenia is the country’s biggest buyer, as yearly state purchases comprise approximately 45 percent of budget expenditures.
