YEREVAN. – Armenian Multi Group Concern intends to explore Armenia’s Mgartski minefield for gold next year, Director General of the Concern Sedrak Arustamyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. Approximately the same amount of drilling was conducted this year.

“British SRK Company conducts the exploration works, which has already completed the first stage of the drilling. Reserves are currently estimated 7-8 tons of gold in the minefield,” Arustamyan said adding that there are no other metals in industrial concentrations at the minefield.

There is a mining and processing plant near the minefield, which was built in 2004. However, the exploitation has been suspended for two years for exploration.
