YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Parliament Speaker Samvel Nikoyan received on Wednesday U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern and stated that he expects an effective cooperation with the newly appointed envoy.

The Speaker praised high the current level of dynamic Armenian-American relations, as well as activities of the U.S. previous Ambassadors to Armenia, parliamentary press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The sides discussed issues on mutual interest. In particular, upcoming parliamentary elections to hold fairly and transparently, participation of the observers, as well as public awareness of electoral processes and electoral legislature are very important.

Nikoyan spoke also on pre-election processes and added that the new Election Code, approved by some international institutions, provides holding fair and transparent elections, which is important for the authorities.
