Another shift of Armenian peacekeepers is returning from Afghanistan on Thursday, the press secretary of Armenia’s Ministry of Defense told Armenian News-NEWS.am. Armenian peacekeepers serve in Kunduz and Mazar-i-Sharif. The new Armenian unit consisting of 41 soldiers will leave next. The unit of Mazar-i-Sharif, consisting of 80 soldiers has already returned and the new shift has already left. Each unit serves for six months.

“Participating in international peacekeeping events is very important as they give Armenia the opportunity to practically participate in defense of international security. As a result Armenia is not considered to be a country only in need of security by the international community,” the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense stressed.
