Ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols will improve relations between two neighboring states, said Sabine Freizer, European Program Director at the International Crisis Group.

Sabine Freizer said she perceives positively Armenian-Turkish protocols. The ratification will improve relations between the states which will contribute to strengthening of regional stability.

“Unless the protocols are ratified, the process between Armenia and Turkey will become more complicated causing disappointment in both countries’ societies,” she told bs-kavkaz website.

According to her, normalization of bilateral relations is advantageous both to Armenia and Turkey. Ankara is confident it is a positive move first of all from the viewpoint of foreign policy, as launching normalization with Armenia, Turkey is implementing its “zero problems with neighbors” policy. Besides, Turkey will get an opportunity to expand its economic influence in the South Caucasus, Freizer added.

As to Armenia, after the protocols are ratified, the country will establish diplomatic ties and will have open borders.
