“Three years before the hundredth anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the analysts note that the Turkish stubbornness becomes more unbearable towards those states which want as France to adopt the bill on Genocide.

Turkey threatens with freezing political and military cooperation, as well as economic and cultural exchanges. However, its efforts are failing.

“Successor of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey categorically rejects using the word ‘genocide.’ While, this position did not hinder more than twenty states to recognize the Genocide,” Turkish Milliyet newspaper analyst Semih Idiz stated.

“This negative and reactive strategy failed and no one is ready to acknowledge it. I believe that the authorities will realize to a certain moment and offer something else in order to face the coming of the hundredth anniversary of the Genocide,” international relations professor at Istanbul Bahcesehir University Cengiz Aktar said.

According to Hugh Pope at International Crisis Group, the decision is in normalizing relations with Armenia.

Turkey cannot avoid from its obligations linking to memory, Turkish HaberTürk newspaper analyst Soli Ozel said.”
