YEREVAN. – A statement was released Wednesday, according to which President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan had a telephonic conversation with his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“It is officially noted that the sides discussed relations of the two countries.

“Zhoghovurd has learned [, however,] that the telephone conversation initiative was made by the commissioning of RF [i.e., the Russian Federation] President Vladimir Putin.

“According to this information, Putin instructed the two leaders to speak to each other and find out when Kazakhstan is going to ratify the treaty on Armenia’s [forthcoming] accession to the [Russia-led] EEU [i.e., the Eurasian Economic Union] as well as to make arrangement on a Sargsyan-Nazarbayev meeting,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
