YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has invited around one hundred world leaders to Armenia to participate in the events to be held on April 24, and devoted to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“And Turkey decided to mark, on April 24, the centennial of the Battle of Gallipoli, which actually began from March 1915 and ended in December. And Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his part, invited the presidents of 22 states to attend the event to be organized on April 24 for this purpose.

“Zhoghovurd, with its inquiry sent to the US embassy in Armenia, tried to find out whether US President Barack Obama has accepted Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s invitation, and [therefore] will participate in the centenary events to remember the Battle of Gallipoli.

‘“The White House has not made any statement regarding the April travel plans of President Obama.’ This is the response given by the US embassy in Armenia,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
