YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Dalma Garden Mall’s proprietor, Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan finally severed the contract with French Carrefour hypermarket chain, which planned to open up a branch in Armenia, specifically at the aforesaid mall, Zhamanak daily reports, referring to governmental sources.

“Moreover, according to the same sources, this was primarily carried out as a result of the active efforts by [ruling Republican Party] RPA [National Assembly] Faction MP [and businessman] Samvel Aleksanyan, who imports essential goods to Armenia.

To note, according to the previous announcement, Carrefour was to start operations in Armenia back in November of the year past. To note, Carrefour has over 15,000 trade centers in a variety of countries and, for the most part, it itself imports the goods that are sold at its hypermarkets, [and] as a result of which it could have sold relatively inexpensive products in Armenia,” Zhamanak writes.
