YEREVAN. – The conversations, with respect to a possible outbreak of swine flu, have become livelier in Armenia in recent days, since seven people had recently died of this disease in neighboring Georgia, Hraparak daily reports.

“We tried to verify from [Armenia’s] chief epidemiologist, Ara Asoyan, as to what the situation is at us.

‘We have absolutely no influenza patients at this moment. If there are cases of influenza, they are not the aggressive flu that existed in Armenia in the years 2009 and 2010,’ [he said].

The Health Ministry’s Sanitary-Epidemiological Department Chief Specialist Liana Torosyan [likewise] claimed the same.

‘In the case when we were conducting a weekly monitoring up until recently, we have passed to a daily monitoring for already a week. Activeness in respiratory infection is not yet observed this year, as compared to the same period last year,’” Hraparak quotes.
