YEREVAN. – The expectations, according to which President Serzh Sargsyan will declare amnesty on September 21, that is, on the occasion of the Independence Day anniversary of Armenia, did not come true, 168 Zham daily reports.

“Especially the inmates that are in prisons on short sentences and their family members await amnesty.

“Our sources close to the RPA [i.e., the Ruling Republican Party of Armenia] assure that there definitely will be amnesty, and it is expected in mid-October

“The day of [declaring] amnesty is kept secret, but it is assumed that the President’s proposal to declare amnesty will be brought to the parliament in the next four-day [session],” 168 Zham writes.
