YEREVAN. – According to the rumors circulating among Armenia’s ruling elite, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan is the most likely successor to President Serzh Sargsyan, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“According to Zhoghovurd’s information, the reviewing of the conditions for the nomination of the candidates for the [office of the] President of Armenia—[that is,] in connection with the ten-year mandatory residency status in Armenia—is also being done taking into account the Bako Sahakyan factor.

“It seems to be a fact that the steps to ‘press’ Bako Sahakyan ‘forward’ are also being taken in the European countries and in the RF [i.e., Russian Federation], our strategic partner.

“Numerous circles serve him as a reliable partner, a seasoned president, and a proper person who is able to replace Serzh Sargsyan in 2018,” Zhoghovurd writes.
