YEREVAN. – Within the framework of his state visit to Armenia on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin first arrived in Gyumri city which, for Putin, is an important attribute in the military system of Russia, 168 Zham daily reports.

“Putin showed where Armenia’s importance begins and ends for him. Its name is the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri.

“And it is not accidental that it was in Gyumri that Putin made the the most important announcement of his visit: Russia not only is not planning on leaving the South Caucasus, on the contrary, it will strengthen more [here].

“By and large, Putin had visited Armenia just to make this statement. The other events that took place during his visit were within the framework of the logic of this very statement.

“But what happened yesterday [i.e., Monday] was more because Putin’s visit was aimed at recording Armenia’s capitulation, which took place at a ‘high level,’” 168 Zham writes.
