YEREVAN. – Chorrord Ishkhanutyun (CI) newspaper has learned that President Serzh Sargsyan has decided to keep power by using the constitutional amendments and leading Armenia toward prime ministerial governance, CI reports.

“CI’s reliable sources have informed that the committee on constitutional reforms is already discussing the matter of putting the prime ministerial governance system to a referendum. Several members of the committee will have to very quickly prepare the provisions—of the package to be put to a referendum—which envision a transition to prime ministerial governance.

“CI has learned that, along with the introduction of the package of amendments to the public, a group will be formed comprising attorneys, political scientists, and intellectuals whom the people ‘trust,’ who will have to present to the public the unquestionable advantages of the model for transitioning to prime ministerial governance,” Chorrord Ishkhanutyun writes.
