YEREVAN. – Zhamanak daily learned that after his resignation, Armenia’s now ex-Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan urged his team members in the government not to quit, the daily reported.

“The point is that the talks with the CU [Customs Union] are conducted by the officials who are considered the teammates of the now former PM. And if these officials quit, the CU [accession] talks will be impaired and time will be needed to resume [talks].

“In addition, Sargsyan’s core team wanted to quit with him. [But] according to the information circulating in the political backstage, Sargsyan urged them to continue to work in the government.

“According to the same information, these officials agreed, but added that they without a doubt will quit if NA [National Assembly] Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan is appointed PM,” Zhamanak wrote.

On April 3, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan submitted his resignation to President Serzh Sargsyan, and the President accepted the resignation.
