YEREVAN. – There is a crisis among the four non-ruling National Assembly (NA) factions (Armenian National Congress (ANC), Prosperous Armenia (PAP), ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage), Zhamanak daily reported.

“The [parliamentary] four are unable to form an agenda following the resignation of former PM Tigran Sargsyan, and Hovik Abrahamyan’s appointment to this position.

“Formerly, the main driving force of the four was [achieving] Sargsyan’s resignation. But when he stepped down very unexpectedly, the programs of the four have ‘hanged,’ in computer terminology.

“Now, the four [forces] cannot criticize Abrahamyan with the same enthusiasm, since they have collaborated with him to achieve Sargsyan’s resignation.

“In addition, the Prosperous Armenia and ARF Parties will never fight against him [Abrahamyan], since the chairman of the first of them, Gagik Tsarukyan, is Abrahamyan’s in-law while the ARF, when it was an opposition, made a lot of use of the NA former speaker’s [Abrahamyan] opportunities.

“The ANC and Heritage Parties [, on the other hand,] have found themselves in a rather awkward position in these relations. They had united with PAP and ARF to remove Sargsyan from office. After achieving this, however, they realized that this change gave them nothing. On the contrary, it damaged [them] temporarily slowing down their fight, and it solely fulfilled Abrahamyan’s and PAP’s wishes,” Zhamanak wrote.
