Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has suspended its strikes on Iran. At the same time, in his first public statement after the sides exchanged missile attacks, he stopped short of directly acknowledging that a ceasefire had taken effect.

"At the moment, the fire has ceased because after we struck the terrorist regime in Tehran, it stopped attacking us. If the terrorist regime in Iran makes a mistake and attacks us again, we will respond with force," Netanyahu said in a statement released on Monday.

According to the Israeli prime minister, Tehran tried to impose a "new equation," linking the conflict in Lebanon to a response from Iran itself.

"They thought they could shell Israel from both Lebanese and Iranian territory, and we would leave it unanswered," Netanyahu stressed. "That did not happen and will not happen. Not under my leadership."
