Hyundai has introduced the fifth generation of its Tucson crossover in South Korea, completely changing its appearance, Autocar reports.
One of the brand's most popular mid-size SUVs now has a more angular and massive design, expressed in off-road lines. The new Tucson is noticeably different from the current model with its more rounded shapes.
The new car has a vertical two-dimensional silhouette, widened wheel arches, a protective lining of the lower part of the body, and a large protective insert at the bottom of the front bumper. The design is made in Hyundai's new style, called Art of Steel, which the company intends to gradually extend to other models. One of the first cars to receive this direction was the new hydrogen Nexo. One of the main features of the new Tucson is its H-shaped light elements.
At the front and rear, they are formed by a thin horizontal light strip bordering the body and vertical daytime running lights. Thanks to this, the car has an easily recognizable light effect.
According to Hyundai representatives, the new look should emphasize the stable stance characteristic of SUVs and give the Tucson a more solid and off-road-ready look. At the same time, this model continues to compete with the Toyota RAV4 in the compact and mid-size crossover segment.
The new generation of Tucson will become one of the key cars in the update of Hyundai's model range. The company, however, has not yet fully disclosed technical specifications and details about power plants.
