The expedition team—led by Arman Nalbandyan—of the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage has discovered a rather interesting and valuable inscription during excavations at the Big Desert of Tatev monastery in Armenia.

As a result of the work carried out on site, after turning a stone, it turned out that it is an inscription, the aforesaid center informs.

This previously unknown and unpublished petroglyph sheds new light on the history of the construction of the monastery’s cells.

The inscription is currently under study. According to preliminary data, it contains the name of a person in whose recollection the cell was built, or who had lived there.

Excavations are ongoing.
