Five journalists and two unidentified people are missing near the Anak Krakatau volcano currently erupting in Indonesia, Antara news agency reported on Wednesday.

On Monday, a speedboat carrying reporters set off from the Pagedongan Pier in Banten Region. The journalists were planning to film a report about the volcano, but contact with them was lost.

There were seven people on the speedboat, including Antara photojournalist M. Bagus Khoirunnas, Arie Basuki (Merdeka), Yudhistira (iNews), Daus (Anadolu Agency), freelance photographer Donal Husni, and two additional individuals whose identities are currently being verified by authorities.

The first phase of the search operation yielded no results.

In addition, the rescue operation is being hampered by the eruption of the volcano.
