YEREVAN.- A protest action against a verdict passed on the case of opposition activists was held near the building of Armenia’s Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, the activist of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Tigran Arakelyan was sentenced to six years, another activist, Artak Karapetyan, to three years, Sargis Gevorgyan and Davit Kiramijyan to two years in jail.

The action was organized by an initiative group calling for “release of the political prisoners.” Among the participants were ANC members, MPs and public figures.

The participants demanded release of the activists calling on other political forces to join them “against political persecution for the sake of just Armenia”.
