YEREVAN. – There is the option of being defeated separately, and the option—which is not discussed—of achieving success together in Armenia’s forthcoming election. Presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan—who is discharged from hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound after a recent assassination attempt—said this during a press conference on Tuesday.

He stressed that there may be changes very soon and, also, there could be a single oppositional candidate. But he added that there is a road to success even without a single candidate, and he is currently on that road.

Hayrikyan informed that the persons with whom he was to discuss the matter of a single candidate are always busy, and that is why he had decided to petition to them with a public message; but, as per Hayrikyan, they described this as a disclosure of secret negotiations.

The presidential contender justified his public statement by noting that, in this way, he is trying to prepare and inform the people.

Incidentally, Paruyr Hayrikyan confirmed the news that the ruling Republican Party presidential candidate, incumbent President Serzh had visited him at hospital on February 10 and asked about his health, but they did not discuss any serious platform or political matter.
