YEREVAN. - Deputy head of Armenian opposition Heritage party Armen Martirosyan has been detained. Martirosyan tops the proportional list of “Barev, Yerevan” bloc running in elections to the Yerevan Council.
Earlier he was beaten by policemen during a scuffle on Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan downtown.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, the police banned protestors from Baghramyan Avenue, where Armenian parliament and presidential residence are located. A scuffle which broke out between law enforcement agents and protesters was calmed down. Police gave 15 minutes for the protestors to leave the area.
