YEREVAN. – The founding convention of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) party got underway on Saturday (photos).  

In an interview with several news reporters before the start of the event, ANC National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Levon Zurabyan noted that 1,100 delegates are invited to the assembly and the rest are invited guests.

He added that the invitees include all those political forces which are ready to cooperate with them, but he did not mention any names.    

Incidentally, on behalf of opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, its NA Faction leader Armen Rustamyan and, on behalf of non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party, its member Stepan Margaryan are attending the event.   

The convention agenda includes several matters, and the event is expected to continue until 5pm. 

Armenia’s First President, leader of the ANC bloc, Levon Ter-Petrosyan entered the convention hall just a while ago; those present welcomed him with applause and calls.    

The event moderator, ANC NA Faction Secretary Aram Manukyan, announced that there are currently the 900 delegates at the convention hall.
