YEREVAN. – Arman Aghajanyan, who is adviser to the Armenia Consulate General in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on Sunday paid a visit to the Armenian citizens who have amassed, as a result of the recent major landslide, nearby the Upper Lars border checkpoint on the Georgia-Russia highway. 

Familiarizing with the situation on location, the adviser met with the headship of the North Ossetia Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Vladikavkaz city representative of the Russian Federation (RF) MFA, informed the Armenia MFA press service.  

At the request of the Consulate representative, the RF Ministry of Emergency Situations set up tents, bio toilets, and lighting for the stranded Armenian citizens, and a 24-hour patrol service was arranged.

In addition, an agreement was reached with the RF immigration and customs services, and toward the extension of the period for the permit to stay in Russia and the temporary import of vehicles of the Armenian citizens who are stranded at the Upper Lars border checkpoint.    

The North Ossetia Ministry of Emergency Situations, for its part, assured that it stands ready to render any necessary assistance to the aforementioned citizens of Armenia.
