YEREVAN. – The part of railway infrastructure that is located in the territory of Abkhazia is not available, SCR General Director Victor Rebets told reporters.
Speaking about possibility of launching Yerevan-Sochi route, he said there is no movement of trains in Abkhazia's section.
He stressed that opening of route to Sochi may become possible only in case of existing operational infrastructure.
“In Abkhazia the solution depends on political decisions. If political decisions are made, we have absolutely full commitment to ensure that our cars could head to any destination using the railway infrastructure in Russia,” he said.
SCR General Director also added that about 50-kilometer railway in Abkhazia is in need of repair.
“Part of the work has been done, but in the area immediately adjacent to the territory of Georgia,” Rebets emphasized.
