YEREVAN. – The Ukrainian government has submitted documents on possible procedure of withdrawing from CIS to Verkhovna Rada, Ambassador Ivan Kukht said, adding that the parliament has to make a decision.
Speaking about CIS, he noted that Ukraine was chairing the organization when the crisis began.
“Unfortunately, CIS foreign ministers did not support our constant calls to convene a meeting of the CIS ministerial council. We applied twice to convene a meeting in Kyiv or Minsk, but there was no result. The Ukrainian government, naturally, decided the structure is not effective,” Kukhta said.
He recalled that Ukraine refused to chair CIS in 2014, and the presidency went to Belarus.
