YEREVAN. – The Armenian side stands ready to answer for the violation of the ceasefire, if our culpability is proven, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan stated Wednesday at the National Assembly.

The minister noted that the border situation continues to be tense.

“[But] this is not new for us. Our society needs to understand and come to terms with the situation, since a final peace has not yet been established. And we are obligated to take measures, with preventive actions, to weaken the adversary’s zeal,” Ohanyan also said.

In his conviction, Azerbaijan’s actions are premeditated and targeted, and their objective is to expose the strengths and weaknesses of the Armenian troops.

The Armenian defense minister expressed a conviction that a climate of trust is required to resolve the matter, and therefore the sniper shots need to stop, the ceasefire must be maintained, and sabotage and intelligence operations need to be ruled out.

“We [, the Armenian party,] have stated that we stand ready to render any assistance to study the ceasefire violation. And we will answer, if it turns out that we are to blame,” Seyran Ohanyan stated.

He added, however, that the problem is in the financial and the logistical resources. Specifically, the respective specialists need to be paid.
