YEREVAN. – Hovik Abrahamyan’s appointment as Prime Minister has nothing to do with the [non-pro-government] Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the latter’s MP Aragats Akhoyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Akhoyan reflected on the recent article by opposition Armenian National Congress Party leader, First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in which Ter-Petrosyan had expressed a view that President Serzh Sargsyan had designated Abrahamyan PM in consideration of PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan, who is Abrahamyan’s in-law.

“There is no such thing. It’s not right to speculate on similar statements. As for Mr. Abrahamyan, he is a figure for us who has a specific practical ability. He can do good things, and he could become the most leading PM [of Armenia],” Aragats Akhoyan noted.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan had published an article in ilur.am, where he criticized President Sargsyan’s policy.
