YEREVAN. – Matters related to the Russian vector, such as the rise in the natural gas and electricity prices, are absent in the 12-point demands of the four non-ruling National Assembly (NA) factions (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia (PAP), ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage).  

Political technologist Karen Kocharyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I am surprised that the demands in connection with Russia are absent. [But] there is the sale of [the] Vorotan [hydroelectric power plant] because the Americans are behind it. If economic matters were put in the demands, why are these demands so few?” Kocharyan said.

To our query as to why the matter of President Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation was not in these demands, the political technologist responded that this is normal because at least two of the aforementioned four parliamentary forces—specifically, PAP and ARF—were saying from the very beginning that their objective is not the President’s resignation. 

Commenting on whether the Armenian authorities will accept the demands of the “parliamentary four,” Kocharyan stressed that the halls of power will not accept the point on passing to 100-percent proportional parliamentary elections in the country, but they will agree to the demand that no customs checkpoint be set up between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. 

The four non-ruling National Assembly factions issued their 12-point demands from the authorities on Tuesday. These demands specifically refer to the mandatory funded pension plan, the restart of the operations of capital city Yerevan’s Nairit chemical rubber plant, a revision of the fines for traffic violations, passing to 100-percent proportional parliamentary elections, and the refusal of any international integration that will undermine the Armenia-Karabakh single economic space.
