YEREVAN. – Thursday June 12, 2014 marks the birth anniversary of Armenia’s late Prime Minister, statesman Andranik Margaryan. 

In this connection, National Assembly (NA) Speaker Galust Sahakyan, PM Hovik Abrahamyan, capital city Yerevan Mayor—and Andranik Margaryan’s son—Taron Margaryan, and representatives and MPs from the ruling Republican Party visited the Komitas Pantheon to pay tribute to Andranik Margaryan.

In addition, Archbishop Navasard Kjoyan, who is Vicar General of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, served a requiem mass in Andranik Margaryan’s memory. 

Ex-PM Tigran Sargsyan, Football Federation of Armenia President Ruben Hayrapetyan, and opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party MP Artsvik Minasyan also had come to pay their respects to the dear departed. 

The people in attendance laid wreaths and placed flowers to the tomb of the late politician.

Andranik Margaryan was born in Yerevan on June 12, 1951. He was elected NA deputy in 1995. He served as the Prime Minister of Armenia between 2000 and 2007, until his sudden death on March 25, 2007 from a heart attack.
