YEREVAN. – Transition to 100-percent proportional system during parliamentary elections is an attempt to close the road for amateurs to the Armenian parliament, ANC secretary Aram Manukyan said.
Talking to reporters in the parliament, Manukyan said 90 percent of deputies elected on majority system “are not deputies”.
Asked whether the same people could be elected to the National Assembly by proportional lists, Manukyan noted that not a single party would like “to take an idiot and an illiterate person under its wing”.
Transition to 100-percent proportional list is one of the 12 demands of non-ruling parliamentary forces.
