YEREVAN. – My hope is the sound judgment of Armenia’s authorities, opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction Head Ruben Hakobyan said at the NA on Friday.
Hakobyan stated the abovementioned while commenting on the four non-ruling NA factions’ (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage) twelve demands from the government.
He noted that although the authorities are praising the opposition for making constructive demands, he doubts that the halls of power will fulfill these demands even at least partially.
“Let’s wait and see how the authorities will act. We have given [them] time until September to discuss our demands. And we consider our demands quite realistic enough for the authorities to be able to fulfill them completely within the specified period of time,” Ruben Hakobyan noted.
The four non-ruling National Assembly factions issued their twelve-point demands from the authorities on Tuesday. These demands specifically refer to the mandatory funded pension plan, the restart of the operations of capital city Yerevan’s Nairit chemical rubber plant, a revision of the fines for traffic violations, passing to 100-percent proportional parliamentary elections, and the refusal of any international integration that will undermine the Armenia-Karabakh single economic space.
