European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, who is in Azerbaijan on a visit, met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. 

During the meeting, the sides noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) had been developing successfully in the domains of politics and economy, reported APA news agency of Azerbaijan

The parties said there were good prospects for the expansion of the energy cooperation even further.

The sides also stressed the importance of José Manuel Barroso’s visit in terms of Azerbaijan-EU ties.

They exchanged views on the current state of, and the prospects for, relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
