YEREVAN. – Upon the instructions by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, Transport and Communication Minister of Armenia Gagik Beglaryan has traveled to Georgia on Saturday. 

Beglaryan headed for Armenia’s neighboring country to get familiarized on location with the current situation at the Upper Larsi border checkpoint on the Georgia-Russia highway, and to follow, together with his Georgian counterpart, the repairs at the collapsed road section.  

Beglaryan is in Upper Larsi at present, the Transport and Communication Ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

Armenia MFA Press Secretary Tigran Balayan had tweeted earlier in the day that the Upper Larsi-Kazbeki Highway—near the Georgian border checkpoint and which leads to the Armenian border—is open and it operates as of Saturday.   

The highway was closed since May 17, and due to a landslide.
