YEREVAN. – The Armenian State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons continues to be actively engaged in the case involving Hakob Injighulyan. 

Rima Arakelyan, Chairwoman of the “Council of the Relatives of Missing and Fallen Freedom Fighters” NGO, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday.  

“But there is still no news,” Arakelyan noted adding that, on June 12, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) representatives in Baku had visited the Armenian prisoner of war (POW).  

According to the ICRC letter, he is in good condition.

On the night of August 8, 2013, Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulyan (born in 1991) had gotten lost and found himself in the territory under the control of Azerbaijan. He was taken to the Azerbaijani capital city Baku the next day. The ICRC was able to first meet with the Armenian prisoner of war on August 20.

To note, Injighulyan was made to wear Azerbaijani military uniform and give several interviews. Azerbaijan claims that the Armenian soldier had expressed a wish to be handed over to a third country. Nonetheless, past experience shows that Azerbaijan puts pressure on the captives so as not to permit their return to their homeland.
