YEREVAN. – Lithuania's Ambassador to Armenia Erikas Petrikas said his country sees threat in connection with escalation of situation in Ukraine and is working to settle all issues peacefully.  This is very important for the future of NATO and Russia, he added.

The diplomat is confident that following Crimea developments Lithuania realized they must focus on security issues.

“We realized that everything we have been speaking about for years should be put into practice. All ruling and opposition forces managed to display political will and sign a treaty to allocate two percent of GDP to defense till 2020. In terms of military budget, Lithuania is behind all NATO member states, and we think the current situation forced us to take everything serious,” he noted.

The Ambassador stressed that strengthening of defense capacity is a priority for Lithuania.
