YEREVAN. – The highest number of widows and widowers in Armenia is recorded in capital city Yerevan with 36.9 percent and 38.6 percent, respectively.

Armenian National Statistical Service official Karine Kuyumjyan stated the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday.

In her words, if we look at the widows’ and the widowers’ ratio on the basis of Armenia’s territorial-administrative division, it should be noted that there are more widowers in the villages than in the cities.

“The widowers in [Armenia’s] rural areas are more by 0.8 percentage points,” Kuyumjyan added.
