YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Eurasian Union accession has no direct connection with the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.

Vladimir Kazimirov, former Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, on Friday stated the aforesaid at a press conference in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.  

To the query on whether an attempt may be made to ensure Azerbaijan’s joining the Eurasian Union at the cost of Armenia’s interests, Kazimirov responded that he does not see a direct link between these two matters.
“The economic topics dominate here [in the Eurasian Union],” he stressed. 

In the ex-Minsk Group co-chair’s words, such issues are secondary in the context of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. 

At the same time, however, Vladimir Kazimirov noted that indirect links can be found, albeit they are not crucial.
