Armenian Foreign Minisetr Edward Nalbandian and his Georgian counterpart Maia Panjikidze signed agreements on cooperation in tourism as well as exchange and protection of classified information.

“This is an area of ​​the economy that has great potential for development. As for the exchange of classified information, it is a usual agreement for friendly countries,” Panjikidze said.

According to her, last year Georgia was visited by 1.3 million Armenian tourists, and tourism industry has great development potential.

In addition, the Armenian and Georgian sides have agreed on direct flights from Yerevan to Batumi, Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

However, Minister Panjikidze believes that direct flights between Tbilisi and Yerevan should be restored, too.

“There used to be direct flights between Tbilisi and Yerevan. Both sides are interested in restoration of flights,” she added.

Earlier direct flights between Tbilisi and Yerevan were operated by Armavia company.
