The Moscow Municipal Court has reached a decision not to extend the arrest period for Armenian truck driver Hrachya Harutyunyan, who is charged with the death of eighteen people as a result of a major traffic accident outside the Russian capital city.   

The court detected several irregularities in the Tver Court ruling dated December 3, 2013, and sent the respective documents for a review, reported ITAR-TASS news agency of Russia.   

Following the December ruling, Harutyunyan’s confinement period was extended numerous times.

Armenian truck driver Hrachya Harutyunyan had pleaded guilty to causing a major traffic accident in Russia last year. The truck he was driving had crashed into a passenger bus on July 13, 2013 outside Moscow. The impact of the crash was so powerful that the bus had split in two. The accident claimed eighteen lives and injured forty others. Harutyunyan faces up to the maximum seven years in prison.
