U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived with an unannounced visit to Iraq to hold a meeting with country's prime minister and other political leaders amid continuous attacks from Sunni militants.

In early June the militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS)seized Iraq's second biggest city Mosul.

The Iraqi authorities expect from the West immediate measures, including air strikes, to overcome the crisis.

Earlier speaking in Cairo, John Kerry said the ideology of ISIS threatens not only Iraq, but the entire region.
