YEREVAN. – Given the events in Ukraine, it seems that today no one asks Armenia whether it wants the European Union (EU) or Russia, since this topic is on the agenda of neither official Yerevan nor the European capital cities.

French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud on Monday stated the above-said during a discussion titled “Eurasian Choice of Yerevan and Armenia’s European Prospects.”

In the diplomat’s words, there is currently a trend to touch upon this topic within the framework of continental politics.
“And the following idea is discussed today: the establishment of an extensive economic zone which will encompass the area from Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans.

“These trends are aimed at building relations between EU and the Eurasian Economic Union,” Ambassador Reynaud noted.

He added that this is a new prospect to a certain degree.  As per the French diplomat, Armenia now faces a new and a complicated problem.

“But Armenia will fully participate in this process,” Henri Reynaud added.
