YEREVAN. – Previous Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia Yuri Vardanyan, who had won a gold medal in weightlifting at the 1980 Summer Olympics, has been appointed Armenia’s Ambassador to Georgia.

Guided by the Constitution of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan has signed the respective decree, informed the Press Office of the President. 

Vardanyan’s diplomatic residence will be in the Georgian capital city Tbilisi. 

Preceding Ambassador to Georgia Hovhannes Manukyan was recently appointed Minister of Justice of Armenia.
